The Dallaglio Rugby Works Six Nations Lunch returned to the brilliant Boisdale in the heart of Canary Wharf for an afternoon of banter, fundraising and rugby insight not only from Lawrence himself, but joining him were the likes of rugby legends Bryan Redpath, Rob Henderson, Andy Powell, and Rocky Clark.
Welcomed heartily by the Dallaglio Rugby works team, we were greeted with an obligatory glass of the finest Bollinger and delicious, fresh Oysters. As we enjoyed these delicacies on the sunbathed terrace overlooking the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf, it could not have been a nicer Spring day for the event.
Upon taking our seats upstairs in the Boisdale, Mark Durden Smith made the introductions but before lunch was served it was time for us to hand over our donation. Through The Green Room auctions and fundraising activities, we were able to raise a staggering £31,750 not only for Dallaglio RugbyWorks but also for Cure Parkinson’s. As applause rang out amongst the audience, members of our team Harriet Martin and Sue Carcary could not have been more delighted to hand the cheque over to Lawrence.
As the Champagne flowed freely, lunch was soon upon us, and we were treated to yet more delicious goodies. Perfectly smoked salmon and kohlrabi, followed by a true showstopper of a dish – beef wellington with creamy mash and spinach. A stunning cheeseboard followed what was a superb lunch and with bellies filled, it was auction time with Jonny Gould and time to hear from two of the young people whose lives had been impacted by the fantastic work of Lawrence and his charity.
Inspired by their stories and with bids flying in for auction items such as Green Room hospitality at the Epsom Derby Festival – it was a brilliant day not only for Dallaglio Rugby Works but for us it’s extremely rewarding, and we wanted to thank each and every one of you for helping us raise over £60,000 for the charities in question. We then got a breakdown of the 6 Nations 2022 from the esteemed panel, and we also heard the truth behind Andy Powell’s escapades down the M4 on a golf cart!
We will continue to raise money for such worthwhile causes like Dallaglio Rugby Works and Cure Parkinson’s and once again thank the generosity of our Green Room guests for dipping into your pockets and raising such a huge amount.
