Everyone knows that Royal Ascot is an event where you can dress to impress but, depending on your hospitality location, there are some strict rules to adhere by regarding the dress code. Don’t let these rules put you off though as we’re here to run through the dress code for each Royal Ascot hospitality package.
Grandstand Facilities & Dress Code
Ladies
– A hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn at all times.
– Jackets and pashminas may be worn, with dresses and tops that comply with the dress code.
– Strapless or sheer strap dresses and tops are not permitted.
– Midriffs must be covered.
– Trousers must be full length.
– Shorts are not permitted.
Gentlemen
– Suit with a shirt and tie.
– Please note that sports attire, jeans and shorts are not permitted.
– Please note that fancy dress, novelty and branded or promotional clothing is not allowed.
The following hospitality facilities must adhere to the Grandstand dress code shown above:
Ascot Village, On5 Restaurant, Sandringham Restaurant and Carriages Restaurant.
Royal Enclosure Facilities & Dress Code
Ladies
– Formal day dress, or skirt and top.
– Dresses and skirts should be of modest length, defined as falling just above the knee or longer, and the straps on
dresses and tops should be at least one inch wide (2.5cm.
– Please note that strapless, off the shoulder, halter neck and spaghetti straps are not permitted, and midriffs must be
covered.
– Jackets and pashminas may be worn, but dresses and tops underneath should still comply with the Royal Enclosure
dress code.
– Trouser suits are welcome. They should be of full length and of matching material and colour.
– Hats should be worn. A headpiece with a base of 4 inches (10cm or more in diameter is acceptable as an alternative
to a hat.
– Please note that fascinators are no longer permitted in the Royal Enclosure.
Gentlemen
– Black or grey morning dress.
– A waistcoat and tie must be worn. Cravats are no longer accepted in the Royal Enclosure.
– All gentlemen in the Royal Enclosure should wear a top hat. Top hats must be either black or grey. Customisation –
such as the use of coloured ribbons or bands – is not permitted.
– A gentleman may remove his top hat within a restaurant, a private box, a private club, or that facility’s terrace, balcony or
garden.
– Hats may also be removed within any enclosed external seating area within the Royal Enclosure Garden
– Black shoes should be worn.
