The Green Room Live Christmas Event was back again for another spectacular night of entertainment, food and banter.
Bright blue skies, beaming sun and crisp fresh air greeted us at The Kia Oval last Thursday but we weren’t there for cricket – it was time to kick off the festive season with at our final VIP event of the year, The Green Room Christmas Live in benefit of Dallaglio Rugby Works and Cure Parkinson’s.
A stunning day greeted revellers at The Kia Oval and as guests eagerly awaited to explore the winter wonderland, seasonal spirits were high and a brilliant afternoon of fun, food and entertainment awaited. Following a Champagne reception, time to catch up with fellow guests and check out the beautiful views from our Alpine ski lodge themed terrace, it was time for the action to begin as guests enjoyed a cracking Crimbo dinner with turkey and all the trimmings. The likes of Zara Tindall, Jimmy Nesbitt and Vernon Kay were all spotted tucking into their festive feast and if you can’t enjoy a good meal at Christmas when can you!?
Soon enough though it was time for our panel of sporting ambassadors to take to the stage and who better than Lawrence Dallaglio, Darren Gough, Sir AP McCoy, and Mike Tindall to chat through all the sporting highs and lows from what has been another fantastic year of sport. In between the talk of the likes of Emma Raducanu, the state of English cricket and England’s 6 Nations prospects, we also learned from Mike Tindall that her Majesty, The Queen does indeed like Brussels sprouts which itself brought a round of applause from guests!
Following our sporting ambassadors was impressionist Darren Farley who entertained guests with his repertoire of characters including Harry Kane and Jamie Carragher. However, whilst all this was going on, superstar painter Ben Mosley was creating a masterpiece – a gold leaf embroidered London city scape that would eventually sell in our charity auction hosted by the legendary Jonny Gould. With a range of stunning items including Green Room hospitality at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the auction was an overwhelming success, raising over £60,000 for charity. Congratulations to those of you successfully purchased items in the auction – we hope you enjoy your early Christmas presents and thank you for your support.
With The Kia Oval now bathed in darkness, it was time for mulled cider and boozy hot chocolate on the terrace whilst our DJ for the evening, the one and only Vernon Kay pulled some classics out of his record collection for an exclusive Christmas Live DJ set. If you weren’t up on your feet dancing then guests were having fun at the selfie station, playing on our ski simulator, or simply just enjoying the atmosphere with their friends, family, or business acquaintances.
As the final song of the evening echoed around the room, another year of Green Room hospitality events ended, and we sent merry guests off into the chilly London night for what we can only assume was a continuation of festivities! Thank you all for making The Green Room Christmas Live such a special day and for helping us raise so much money for charity. We couldn’t do it without your support, and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous Happy New Year. Hopefully we’ll see you back in The Green Room soon!
