The long-awaited clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may finally be edging closer to reality.

Fury v Joshua: When Will It Be Confirmed?

Eddie Hearn has officially announced that Anthony Joshua has signed a deal to fight fellow former world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. Joshua, who hasn't fought since December of last year, will first face off against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh. Fury and Joshua have carried British boxing for more than a decade, and there have been negotiations during that time, but now it's finally confirmed. Netflix confirmed that the fight will take place this November and Wembley Stadium has widely been reported as the leading candidate to host.

A Fight 10 Years in the Making

For over a decade, boxing fans have demanded Fury vs Joshua—and now, it feels closer than ever. Following his victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 11th April, Fury made headlines by attempting to bring Joshua into the ring to agree to the fight on the spot. For a moment, it looked like the blockbuster bout was set for autumn. However, things quickly became unclear. Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, dismissed the announcement shortly after, leaving fans once again waiting for official confirmation. As it stands, nothing is signed…

What it means for Tyson Fury

Fury v Whyte “Do you want the fight or not? There’s no running from me this time - 10 years in the making.” For Tyson Fury, this fight is about legacy. Having already beaten elite names like Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko, Fury has proven himself at the highest level. A win over Joshua would:
  • Cement him as Britain’s best heavyweight of this era
  • Deliver victory in a long-standing domestic rivalry
  • Strengthen his case as an all-time great
Notably, after multiple retirements, Fury has made it clear—this is the fight he wants most.

What it means for Anthony Joshua

“Tyson, you are a clout chaser. I’ve never had a problem getting in the ring with you." For Anthony Joshua, the situation is more complex. His most recent outing—a dominant win over Jake Paul—was his only fight in the last 18 months. After the most challenging period of his career and personal life, AJ will be looking to return to the ring and finally put an end in the discussions regarding where he stands against Tyson Fury.  A win over Fury would:
  • Bragging rights, over his long-time rival - something to hold over Fury.
  • Redeem his legacy having suffered multiple losses to Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois, and Andy Ruiz. A win would restore his name as a elite fighter.
  • A potential path back to World Title fights.
