Are you looking for a premium hospitality experience at the Epsom Derby festival? Please look at what you can expect from a typical Epsom Derby hospitality package with The Green Room.
What is the Epsom Derby?
Horse racing at Epsom Downs dates back to 1661. In 1780, Lord Derby and his friend Sir Charles Bunbury flipped a coin to decide the title for a new race. Lord Derby won the naming right, but it was Sir Charles' horse, Diomed, who won the maiden 1-mile race.
The Derby is open to 3-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. Because of the races' age restrictions, horses can only win the Derby once.
Kings, Dukes, Indian Princes, and a Prime Minister have all owned Derby-winning horses. Jockey Lester Piggott is the most successful jockey in Epsom's history with 9 wins between 1954 to 1983. Sue Magnier and Michael Tabor are the most successful owners, winning 9 times from 2001 to 2024.
The Epsom Derby Festival has become one of the richest and most celebrated racing festivals globally. The Derby has a total prize purse of £1.5 million.
